It is important to note, that first and foremost, we instill in our young ladies the importance of respect and commitment to not only each other and the game of basketball, but also the community. Our girls are required to perform community service activities throughout the greater Waterbury area and surrounding towns and also maintain a respectable grade point average in school. While playing the game of basketball at a very competitive level can be a wonderful and rewarding experience, it pales in comparison to what they can accomplish off the court if they make the same commitment as they do while on the court. My staff and I make every effort to make playing on this team a “life experience”; an experience that will help lead them down the right path as they enter their adolescent years.
Each year, we do our best to reward our young ladies with an opportunity they normally would not be afforded elsewhere. This year, our goal is to raise the necessary funds to allow our young ladies to attend Michael Jordan’s Flight School in California in August. This dream, however, comes with a heavy price tag….one that is not affordable to all of our girls and their families; and while the financial commitment of $25,000-$30,000 seems overwhelming, our young ladies as well as me and my staff have made the commitment to raise these funds over the next 9 months so they can make their dream come true. Through corporate sponsorships, donations and fund raisers, it is our hope to raise the necessary funds to offset the cost of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Please keep in mind that no amount is too small and would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much.
