Give for Liv
Liv is a beautiful, outgoing 15 year-old young lady battling leukemia.
Her story is quite remarkable. She was diagnosed in August of 2013 and began the standard chemotherapy regimen for her disease. As a side effect of the chemo she developed a severe infection. Her heart failed, her lung collapsed and she was given only a very slim chance of survival.
Fortunately, she found the strength to pull through. She spent 100 days in the hospital recovering from surgeries, side effects, pain medications and had to learn to walk again. She quickly became an inspiration to the other kids and adults with her smiling face and positive attitiude. As soon as Liv got out of the hospital, she set her goals. One of those goals is returning to her high school in Las Vegas and return to softball where she was the starting catcher on her varsity team as a freshman.
She also loves to give back. She has made a couple of appearances, including a guest speaker spot at fundraisers and does everything she can to share her inspirational story. She has changed people's lives, young and old.
What makes Liv's story even more inspirational is that she is recovering without the help of pharmaceuticals. She hasn't used pharmaceutical pain meds, appetite enhancers or any other non chemo drugs since leaving the hospital last year and she is determined to show everyone that you can heal by using what nature gives us.
Currently she is spending her time resting and getting ready for the next big blast of chemo.
We are asking the community to help Liv get through the next two years of treatment and recovery. Transportation costs, non prescription medications and other miscellaneous medical expenses are growing and with only a single dad to support her, the financial burden is becoming overwhelming.
