Give Linda A Heart

Donation protected
Shortly after the cover photo above was taken, Linda was diagnosed with severe heart failure. Since September 2011, she has spent more than five months in the hospital as they have not been able to find a solution to help her heart heal. During that time, doctors found that she has an autoimmune problem called Scleroderma. The combination of heart failure and Scleroderma has put her life in a balance of having to have a heart transplant or not live past forty-five years old. She has spent a majority of her time at the University of Washington Medical Center, however, they have been unable to gain enough heart function with current medicines for her to survive without a balloon pump. This balloon pump is a line pump that goes up through the artery to your heart to assist your heart. Unfortunately, this pump cannot keep her alive for more than two months. She has been bedridden with very little movement for the past month. This pump was a bridge to a longer solution as she has recently been flown via ambulance jet from Seattle to Texas Heart Institute in Houston, one of the largest heart institutes in the world. She arrived in Texas on April 11th and the doctors are currently assessing her for an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) which will support her blood pressure until a heart becomes available. As we are unsure about the duration of her stay in Houston, we have been given a rough estimate of about six months.

This is a million dollar operation. Fortunately we have very good insurance that will cover a majority of the costs, however, we are still responsible for a $25,000 deductible, room and board for her to stay near the hospital after the LVAD operation is complete, and transportation costs for her family to be able to go down and see her. We have deducted the amount we have raised thus far off of our total goal on this website.

Linda, who is only forty-five, has been with her husband Cameron for thirty-two years, and married for twenty-six. They have lived within the Fife-Milton-Edgewood area for twenty-two years which became a place to call home for their three boys, Cory (22), Keegan (20) and Scott (18).

Now is the time that we need your help. We have ordered wristbands seen in the picture above that we will be selling for $5 each. In addition, we will be holding a number of events within the next two months. The first will be an auction within the community, the second being an event sponsored by Stan Parente Salons. More information will be posted shortly, however, we just want to make people aware of our situation and to keep us in your prayers.

Also, if you know anyone who works for an airlines and is able to donate a buddy pass, it would be greatly appreciated as tickets to Texas average at about $450 round trip.
