Girls Robotics Team Needs Funding!

We are the GirlBots, a community based robotics team, consisting of six girls in the fifth and sixth grades. We participated in the 2015 FIRST Lego League competition, and won 2nd place in the NYC Championship Tournament last month! As a result, we were invited to attend an international competition in Arkansas against 72 other international teams, but we need your help to get us there. Since we are a community team, unlike other school teams, we are self- funded. We are asking for your support and donations to help us go to Arkansas!
There are 3 parts to the FLL competition that we are judged on: robotics, research, and core values. We use Lego Mindstorms technology to program robots to do different tasks. The research part is where we discover and learn more about a topic, and solve a problem associated with that subject. This year our research topic was how to make art museum visits a fun and productive learning experience for kids. The core values part is about demonstrating teamwork and being graciously professional.
We won the teamwork award at the Queens Borough tournament which qualified us to compete in the NYC wide tournament. We performed so well at the NYC tournament that we won the 2nd Place Champion’s Award. We are very proud of this achievement, which also earned us an invitation to participate in the International FLL Tournament, which is being held at the University of Arkansas on 14-17 May 2015. We are passionate about STEM and robotics, therefore, we would like to ask you to help fund us to get to Arkansas!
