Charles & Lynsee's Wedding

It all began in September, 2012 with four simple little words.

"I like your name".

I sent Charles this message in a 'whisper' (the term used for sending a private message in video games that only the recipient can see) after seeing his username in the game's global chat and it led to us becoming friends.  From friends to guildmates, from guildmates to Facebook friends, from Facebook friends to besties, and from besties to roommates on February 4, 2014.

It didn't take long after living under the same roof, even if in separate rooms of the house, for us to realize that we got along even better in person than we had online and over the phone.  We had the same habits, the same pet peeves, the same preferences, the same tastes in movies, music, books, politics, religion, and even the same taste in friends.  We began dating and discovered that we'd both felt this instant connection to one another from the very first day of our chance encounter in that crappy browser based video game we no longer played but neither of us had had the courage to say anything because neither of us knew or even suspected that the feeling was mutual.

This worked to our advantage, however, because it gave us a very long period of time to get to know each other as friends in a much more personable way than love interests typically experience.  We'd both been one another's shoulder to cry on during previous break-ups and had never felt the need to don a mask of idealism for one another that so many new couples inadvertantly use.  We've become so close so quickly that friends, mutual coworkers, and even some family members just assumed that we were already married and we are often told, everywhere we go, that our relationship is like a fairytale that many of our single and dating friends say they hope to someday find for themselves.

On November 18, 2017 Charles added a new chapter in our fairy tale lives by surprising me with the most romantic dinner in all of Las Vegas as a birthday present.  Then, in the middle of desert, as the ethereal voices of Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli saranaded a magnificant fountain show at the Bollagio, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.  Of course I said yes.  I'd been prepared to say yes to that question from the first moment that we kissed!  The woman seated at the table behind ours, a wedding florist on vacation from Canada, sensed that the big question was approaching and used her cameraphone to snap pictures of our life-changing moment so that we could treasure and share it forever with our friends and family.

As we prepare for the big day when we will express our love for one another, voice our vows before all of you, and pledge ourselves officially - we've come to realize that a typical wedding gift registration just isn't the right fit for us.  We have a blender, dishes, microwave and the like for our home and our life together.  For this reason we are asking you, our beloved friends and family members, not to plan on purchasing any wedding gifts for us at all.  Instead, what we could really use your help with, is making the wedding happen!  We want to honor the way that we met and the culture that we both love and enjoy so much by hosting a themed wedding event that will be as fun and special for you, our guests as it will be for us.  We have amazingly creative ideas and are finding ways to save money at every opportunity without cutting corners that are important to us for our big day.

Any donation that you can make will be helpful, every donation will be used and appreciated, and if we manage to reach our goal for the wedding, any additional funding raised or saved up by us (because of course, we're not relying entirely on gifts and donations) will be put toward the honeymoon!  This day is very important to us and being able to host the wedding of our dreams (I promise, we're not lavish people who arbitrarily buy expensive things just because of name brands or fancy price tags) would mean the world to us!

Please help us in any way that you can and thank you for all of your love, support, and encouragement!
