What is Gift A Vision to poor School Children Project:
The project in India, is an extensive program with the goal of giving 20,000 school children, who are living in slums, an access to vision, screenings and distribution of free glasses to those in need. And further treatment, if required.
What is the issue of blindness & uncorrected Vision in India:
India has the highest number of blind people in the world. The issues start in early childhood. Uncorrected vision can have a big impact on childrens' lives. If a child’s vision is not corrected while they are in school, they may find it hard to break free from the poverty cycle, as adults. And they eventually become blind in old age due to poverty and a challenging life, throughout their youth. An eye exam and a pair of glasses can set off a chain reaction that dramatically improves their lives. Our school screening program in Aligarh, a small town in India , for correcting the vision of children who are poor and residing in slums, is a critical contribution to transforming their future.
Who is executing this Project:
Friends For Cause Foundation (FFCF). In April 2011, Friends For Cause Foundation Canada, started their first Gift A Sight Project of providing cataract surgery for people living on the streets in India. This year a group of UBC students are helping them to collect funds and also execute a new and innovative pilot project: "Gift A Vision to poor School Children " and it will be executed along with their regular projects of Gift A Sight. The students are raising funds for Gift a Vision project.

What it costs to complete the project:
$1 / child ( Indian Rs 50):
We have assumed that it will cost 50 cents (Indian Rs 20) to screen one student, another 40 cents (Rs 15 to Rs 20) if detailed vision check is required for 30% of the kids. And $2 (IndRs 100) to provide eyesight glasses for 10% of the students. Thus we have assumed it should cost FFCF Can $1 to $1.25 / student. $20000.00 approximately.
How will my funds be used:
100% funds collected go towards the cause. Members of the Friends For Cause also contribute their own personal funds to donate to the projects and execute the projects in a professional manner. The funds collected here will go directly to FFCF account and we are all volunteering.
We will also post lots of photographs and will update live from the project site, on a regular basis. Please join our facebook pages:

How many people have benefitted under your projects:
Till date, FFCF have screened more than 10000 street people, have provided 1500 eyesight glasses and have funded 750 cataract surgeries. Please Visit the website

What are the dates for the project execution:
The project will start in Nov-Dec 2017 and it will continue again in 2018-19 unless the goal of screening 20000 kids is achieved.

Yes, FFCF is a registered charity in BC, Canada and you will get a receipt. Please e-mail us for an official receipt after donating to us.
