My Story:
Hi there! For those of you that may not know me, my name is Loghan Bazan and I am a young singer pursuing my dream of becoming a professional opera performer. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Voice from Carnegie Mellon University and am currently a first-year Master's candidate in Opera Performance at The University of Maryland, College Park in their renowned Maryland Opera Studio. I have a fervent passion for my work and seek to better my craft whenever possible. To augment my graduate studies, I auditioned for several summer programs and was extended an offer to attend SongFest as one of twelve Schubert Fellows. I will travel to Los Angeles, CA to participate in the 4-week program this June and am ecstatic about this growth opportunity!
What is SongFest?
SongFest is a 4-week, intensive performing summer training program for singers and collaborative pianists held every summer at The Colburn School in Los Angeles, CA.

How will I be involved?
I will participate in the Young Artist curriculum as one of twelve Schubert Fellows. In addition to the core curriculum experience of all participants (Movement, Acting, Performance Master Class, Alexander Technique, Business of Singing, and Audition Practicum), Schubert Fellows enjoy a larger number of high profile concert performances, master classes, coachings and lessons with the distinguished senior faculty. Among other major projects, I will be one of the select singers cast in "Songs in the Key of LA" a project in collaboration with Los Angeles Opera. I will also study private voice with internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Susanne Mentzer and coach with well-known composers Libby Larsen, Jake Heggie, John Musto and William Bolcom.

Where is your contribution going?
Tuition: $1000 ($2000 - $1000 Schubert Fellow Scholarship from SongFest)
Room and Board: $2450 ($2250 goes directly to SongFest- not all meals are covered in Room/Board cost and I am estimating another $200 need)
Roundtrip Airfare from DC to LA: $320
Music Scores: $200
