Help Jenny go to Yale for Midwifery!

Since I was a little girl, I have been in awe of pregnancy and childbirth. I became a doula three years ago because I was interested in becoming a midwife. It is a honor to support women and their families in childbirth but being a doula wasn't enough for me--I wanted to be the one actually giving women options. Between getting married, turning 30 and losing my father all within the same four months of 2013, I realized I was not getting any more time in this life to make it what I truly wanted it to be. I knew NOW was the time to pursue my dream of being a part of the solution to foster healthier mothers, babies and families. As a midwife, I know not every woman I work with will have a completely intervention-free birth, but what I also know is that each and every woman who I midwife will be treated with respect--for her, for her baby and for her positive birth experience.
The Yale application was due October 4th, a Friday. That Monday and Tuesday, I was home sick from work and something told me to finish up my application, despite my body aches and sniffles. I was able to submit my application two days before the deadline on Wednesday October 2nd. That very next day, my father was put into hopsice. Had I waited until the actual deadline of Friday to finish my application, I would not have had the strength to complete it.
My father was a Harvard man, Class of '49. I know despite his face in this photo, he is looking down at me and smiling, proud that while his little girl didn't get in to Harvard for undergrad, she got into Yale for midwifery school on her very first try.
I was accepted in one of the most competitive applicant pools the school has seen. It is a true honor to be chosen among such a talented group of future leaders in health.
However, attending Yale comes with a hefty pice tag--$115, 970 in tuition for the three years.
Tuition All Three Years:
Tuition (Year 1): $49,970
Tuition (Year 2): ~$33,000
Tuition (Year 3): ~$33,000
TOTAL TUITION: $115,970
Fees (1st Year):
Books and Packets: $1,000
Clinical Background Check: $980
NCLEX Exam: $380
TOTAL FEES YEAR 1: $2,360
I cannot do this without you and I am asking for your help. Being a midwife is my dream. Truly any amount is a tremendous support and will offset how much I will need to borrow. I cannot thank you enough for supporting me in pursuing my dream.
