Help Brook Get to Work!

Donation protected
Yesterday on my way up 95N to work in Arlington at Marymount University an 18-wheeler swerved into my lane and the pic is the result... the back windshield blew out, I spun around and by the grace of a higher power no other vehicles were involved. Although I am shaken up,  sore, bruised and overwhelmed I am ultimately OK and that in itself is a blessing.  The car is not. The back windshield was blown out, lots of body damage, parts of the vehicle were strewn across all 3 lanes of 95.  I ended up sideways across 2 lanes and parted the morning commute traffic (knowing full well I was being cussed out miles back.) There were two good samaritans who stopped and stayed with me and kept making sure I was okay.  Both nurses on their way to work in NOVA , their kindness and concern were welcomed and appreciated.  To Kevin and Uneek, Thank You.

I find myself in a situation where I need to humble myself and ask for help. I have just started a new position at Marymount University as the Executive Chef of Resident Dining after almost 6 months of being out of work. (I was not able to receive unemployment.) I've sold some valubles and had some assistance from a few Guardian Angels otherwise I'd be in far worse shape. And believe you me, I am grateful for making it through--I also know I've had it better than most.

But I need to be able to get to this wonderful new job in Arlington and I have no funds for a vehicle. I do not own the car I was driving and any settlement from insurance should and will go to the owner.  I have no way of purchasing a vehicle at this time without a considerable
downpayment and am asking for your help. I've checked into commuting by the VRE but it would be almost twice my gas allowance and I've had to put myself on a very tight budget to repay my Guardian Angels and catch up on bills I was unable to afford in the past 6 months.  As a working Chef it is also difficult to adhere to the train schedule, hours vary and the train, not so much.

I believe I would be able to purchase a solid used vehicle and cover taxes, tags, etc. with $3000.  Either purchase a vehicle outright or at least put a good down payment towards something to keep a monthly payment within my budget.  But I have to get to this new job where I feel like I found a culinary home.

If you can help in a small way, I am grateful and humbled. If you are unable, no worries--I have wanted to help out friends and causes before but was just not financially able so I understand.  Yes, time is a factor and I do have a rental, but I may only have access to the free rental for two weeks and am unable to afford one after that.

I will say that if I exceed my goal or am able to purchase a vehicle for less than the 'goal', I pledge to make a donation of the remainder to a charity (perhaps 2). And I'm thinking Nursing for sure!

Thanks for at least taking a moment to read and I wish you all a safe drive where ever you may travel. I send out light and love to you all.
