Andrew is home from the ICU at last! Six weeks and one day was more than enough!
It is amazing that he's home -- so much safer than being in the hospital! -- and now at home he has been breathing really well.
What's tough about being home is that he needs around-the-clock nursing level care for a while. He has wounds from bed sores, trachea and stomach valves that need care, new, very different feeding arrangements, etc.
He was supposed to come home with 24 nursing care but there has been no nurses available through the state.
My folks have found a private nurse who worked with Andrew at his school some time ago. She can come to the house to help bridge the gap but her pay rate of $25.00 per hour must be paid out-of-pocket.
This page is set up so that you can assist Mike and Halline with privately paying for a nurse until the state agency has one available.
