Gerard Donald Cancer Fund

Gerard was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer in 2014 which has metastisized to his bones.   (adenocarcinoma)  He has battled through maximum radiation , chemo, and a partial lung removal in 2014.  He fought through the challenges and went into remission in 2015 for about 8 months. In July 2016, Gerard found out that the cancer had spread to his spine and sternum.  After undergoing more radiation and chemo Gerard was hopsitalized numerous times at the beginning of 2017 but recovered.  The doctor said that the cancer was shrinking and expected the report to be good on the next pet scan.  Gerard completed a petscan in May 2017 and the oncologist reported to us that the cancer had spread aggressively throughout his body from his lung, hip, lymph nodes in his right bronchial tube, sternum, and pelvis.  The oncologist has given Gerard a time line of 8 months to a year without treatment.  The Baton Rouge oncologist has referred Gerard to MD Anderson because there is no treatment left that he can do.   We are hoping he is eligible  for treatment when he gets to MDA in Houston.  Thank you for supporting Gerard through this battle.  We are overwhelmed with the kindness that our friends,  near and far, as well as family have shown us.  We are gearing up to go to MDA.  I am taking leave from work to be with Gerard at MDA.  We will stand strong and believe in the power of our Lord to save Gerard no matter what the reports show.   Please help us continue the fight so Gerard can spend more time with his grand babies.  He has bonded so close to our 4 grand children and we pray MD Anderson can provide new treatments that can extend his life.  Please place Gerard on your prayer list and remember him in this struggle.  May the Lord give a special blessing to all those that give to our cause.  Much love to all from us!
