George's battle:
George, as some of you may know, is one of the toughest dogs you'll ever meet. Matt and I rescued him from the ASPCA in Modesto, California in 2011 when he was a year and a half. He had been in the shelter for over a year, struggling with his own abusive past as well as the ups and downs of his friends in the shelter. He was a tough cookie to crack-it took almost a month with us to see him wag his tail. But he quickly grew into one of the most fun-loving, open and trusting souls you could ever have the luck to meet.
Since his time with us, George has embraced adventures including a scary run towards the beach where he was rescued from the breakwall by the lifeguards of Redondo Beach, and travels with his mom and dad across the United States in an RV for our honeymoon.
George is now battling the greatest struggle of his young life: our 4-year old pup was just diagnosed with a rare blood disease (IMHA) that is very hard for a dog of any age or size to come back from. True to his character, he went into the hospital last week with barely any chance to survive and he has beaten all of the odds so far.
Matt and I are committed to fight as hard for Georgie as he is fighting for himself. And for as hard as he has fought for love and trust since birth. This is an expensive process but we have good reason, both factually and in our hearts, to believe he can come back home soon.
If anyone would like to make a donation to George's fund, it will go 100% to his hospital bills and future care (medication and check ups) once he is released from the hospital. George has helped teach us to be generous without agenda and loving without knowing. We hope to find even just a few souls like him to help us out.
