Medical Aid for a kind Dad

This page is about Life's unexpected twists and turns: I am embracing this present moment with trust and positiveness and I want to express my heartfelt thanks to you for reading those lines as a dear friend and /or member of our family or simply a "friend I have yet-to- meet". I am pleased and extremely grateful that we can share friendship, love and care. 

I started this campaign when we arrived in Mauritius in December 2017 after fleeing the destructive effects of a religious cult in Sydney.  My Dad George also had recurrent health issues.  Proper care  is only available in private medical clinics in Mauritius, and is expensive for us. But then I was able to work a bit to cover these costs.

However on the 5th September, he fell heavily at home, wanting to walk all by himself,  unassisted. He sustained a femoral fracture. Surgery is not an option for him, being too frail.  We have therefore chosen  a non-operative solution and recovery at home, with a team of carers, nurses, physio and doctors.  They are doing miracles now... 

I have raised funds already but I am still short. I would love to work more but my presence is required to coordinate the medical team,  assist and motivate my father, as he tends to panic if I am not around.  I am hoping  this crowdfunding campaign to bridge the gap with your amazing help.  Hospitals and medical clinics in Mauritius have no geriatric wards, so I have set up our very own geriatric care at home, tailored to George's needs.     

I would be humbled and so grateful if you would consider playing a small part in George's well being and recovery if you so wish.  And I really mean small, as every small bit goes a long way. I will find a way to gift you back with something... ( I can sometimes cook a mean Mauritian curry! :-)  ) 

Why are we living in Mauritius and no longer in Sydney for now?

My father has been my hero all my life.  Yet despite our wonderful life in both Mauritius and Sydney, we have been "under some grey clouds" in recent years.  Our family has lived under the influence of a religious sect for quite sometime. This has been a very "corrosive" process, impossible to stop, in spite of my repeated attempts. My two lovely sisters are the ones really affected and are still  trapped and under heavy influence.  Changes in their personalities have been massive since 2014.  Moreover, it has been a quiet challenge to look after both elderly parents since 2011 (now Dad only after Mum's passing in 2016) and to keep a balance with everything. The  resulting financial erosion is the core explanation behind our recent return in Mauritius. I don't know how long I will stay here, in Mauritius.

I credit my music,  my music friends  and colleagues (in Australia and all over the world) for giving me inspiration and  the inner strength to continue removing  the powerful "tentacles" of this group. My work with Guitar Passion was pivotal in keeping my mind and creative energies vibrant, full of joy and alive for the last 3 years.  Thank you guys...

I am eternally indebted to my family here, specially my Cousins in Mauritius and those living outside of Mauritius, my Aunties & Uncles, who are giving their "out of this world" support, love and assistance to us both. Also many people and organizations in Australia, such as Montefiore in Sydney, helped us tremendously. Without you all, I could not have continued on this journey.

The funds raised will complement what I have now and go towards the hiring and maintenance of hospital-grade equipment at home, as well as servicing the regularly visits by a geriatric doctor (only 2 here), the roster of carers and nurses and all the medication and medical products.  Your invaluable help will enable us to cover those medical expenses and free up my time, so I can resume more of my own work and continue rebuilding myself professionally ( doing Music Therapy here after years of inactivity).

There are a lot of misconceptions, taboos, stereotypes and stigma around sects, cult, and their victims. No one wants to talk about this type of crime.  Yet, there are over 3000 destructive cults are currently active in Australia and they successfully target anyone from any walks of life, social status and profession, including rock stars  and Hollywood actors. Our laws are not ready to tackle them. I am working on this, along with hundreds of other former victims, thank to the CIFS in Sydney ( Cult Information Family Support). People do not willfully join cults. They get tricked into joining one. 

My legal battle continues with renewed determination and power. I am positive I  will win. I am targeting a very large compensation. It cannot be otherwise. For this I am helped by people from all over the world..thank you too..

I feel deeply blessed by the love I received from my two parents, the happiness I have encountered in my life from them and shared with others whenever and wherever I have been and will continue doing. I am able to use this inner force as a wonderful reserve of energy to have the strength to write this story and ask for your kindness, generosity and help. I don’t think there are parents as loving, caring and beautiful as my parents, George and Claude, whom I owe everything, with their radiating love and a huge sense of service and sacrifice to their loved ones, their children.
