Hello, my name is Gayle Wise and I have been catering in Tulsa for over 20 years as The Cheesecake Lady and Dinner-A-Go-Go. It has always been my honor to enhance your celebrations and milestones and to donate my cooking talent for countless Tulsa non-profit organizations and fundraisers because I believe in community. In a community, we take care of each other. For the first time in my life, I find myself in the position of needing to receive some of that care.
This has been my hardest year. What I thought was a minor ankle injury last fall turned into a diabetic nightmare. I have had diabetes for 3 years, have taken my medicine and watched what I ate and have had no problems, but I was ignorant of how insidious and rapid diabetes works. On June 7th I was admitted to St. John's Hospital and my toe was amputated. I am 65 and have Medicare. I paid for my own insurance for over 20 years until my provider left the state. I have not been able to work since May 5th. I’ve done everything I can think of to make money, including trying to sell my business and all my inventory, but I need help.
I have lost my business and am in danger of losing my home. I live alone and I have no family nearby, but I do have my family of friends who are helping me get through this. I have been going to the St. John's Wound Clinic for weeks with friends chauffeuring me, getting my groceries, cooking me meals and just getting me through. My medications are terribly expensive and the medical bills are coming in daily. I have two months of physical therapy before I am mobile. I do not want to lose my house and I am confident that I will work again. I am a strong woman and I will get back up but right now, the bottom line is that I need some help to pay the bills. As of today, I have not paid this month's mortgage payment. I have never missed a mortgage payment since my I bought my first house in 1985. This money will allow me to pay my bills and get back on my feet. Thank you in advance for any help you can give!!
