Gary's BIG FAT Birthday Surprise

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Bea, I am Gary's "woman" and I have created this page so that instead of birthday gifts we can collect money for a new mountain bike.

This is not a cause, this is a gesture to show up for Gary in the same way he shows up for so many of us.

If I were to describe him I would say that Gary takes care of things. He fixes, saws, hammers, schlepps, cooks for scores of people, always has an open door and ear for anyone needing to talk or wanting business advice.

And he loves to be active. A perfect day starts with surfing, followed by a mountain bike ride, and ideally we go for a Sunset hike. He does this as often as he can and his bike has 14,000 miles on it and has been rebuild a few times.

My frugal man's parts are falling apart. Well, his bicycle and shoes that is. Because if it still can be glued, drilled, sewed, or sottered - it still can be FIXED. But trust me - the shoes are done and the bike has earned it's retirement, too.

I am asking to please chip in what you feel comfortable giving.

Since I have known him  he has never asked for anything in return. Or even asked the question - what is in it for me?

On July 16, 2016 Gary is turning 60. To no suprise he doesn't want to make a big deal about himself.

Which is why I decided to throw him a party at his sisters house she so generously offered.  Shhhhh.... it's a surprise.

My goal is to present Gary with an oversized check or gift card to a bike shop and a huge card from everyone who contributed so that he can buy the new  SIDI shoes we already looked at the for $500 (that will last the next ten years) and $3500 so that he can customize the hardtail mountain bike with the components that make it the best bike ever (and lasts the next 20 years.) Remember he has to fix things and customizing a bike will be as close to Nirvana as it gets! :D

Kenny - the designated bike spy just told me about some of the details: XT not XTR
3 gears in front  -Shimano components -Coil shock -27.5" wheel frame - 4.0 suspension
and it could be a Cannondale, Giant, Turner, Santa Cruz. Ellsworth.

I wish for Gary to experience what your awesome friendship looks like as  we come together and celebrate a milestone with a pretty cool guy.

If you are game, let's show the man who is always there for everyone that everyone is there for him.

Thank you for your kind consideration and I hope to see you July 16th.

Bea
