Gente boa! I have been invited to a once in a lifetime experience. My Capoeira teacher, Mestre Beck, is celebrating his 40 years in Capoeira. He has invited me and some of my peers to join him. The event is in Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil! I want to ask for your help getting me there.
This celebration will include a week filled with workshops, training, culture, language, music, and so much more. As a teacher of Capoeira in Maine, this event will also afford me new training, techniques, and experiences that I will be able to passs on to my students. It will aslo serve to strengthen my understanding of Capoeira, which will in turn strengthen our community stateside.
Every Capoeirista dreams of the pilgramage to Brazil. I am hopeful to go in July. The only hurdle between me and this amazing adventure is funding. I am between finishing my Bachelor's and starting my Master's in social work (in May) and money is tight in this little limbo I find myself in. I want to ask you for your help funding my trip to Brazil, not just for me, but for my students, and the Capoeira commuity. Muito obrigado!
