GABBY'S CHALLENGE Wheelchair for Gabby

"Why can't I run and play like other dogs?" This is what Gabby must be thinking as she watches other dogs be themselves. Gabby is a 5 year old German Shepherd who got a rough start to life. She was thought to have spent most of her life in a very small crate and used as a breeding dog.  When they were finished with her, she was taken to a high kill shelter in Miami-Dade, Florida to be euthanized.  But her life  was saved by Sindi Parker of Almost Home Dog Rescue and Rehab not for profit 501(c)3 in Vermont.  Because of the abuse and neglect, among other medical issues like anemia and a mammary tumor, Gabby cannot walk like most other dogs.  She has hip dysplasia and her front legs/ankles are deformed and as such, she walks on her ankles and legs. It is very difficult for her to even stand as every step she takes is a challenge. (Please watch her video on this page to see for yourself.) When she sees other dogs running around and playing, you can see in her eyes that she wonders why she can't be like them.  Gabby dreams of being like other dogs. She needs a quad wheelchair to help her get around and relieve her painful situation.
