Give 4 Guatemala


My name is Leah Adams and I am a graduate student at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. I am in the Mandel School's dual degree program pursuing a Master's of Science in Social Administration and Nonprofit Organizations.


Ever since I had one opportunity to travel abroad, I realized I have a desire to help children & families in need on a global level. As a future international social worker, my passion in life is to ensure that every child I meet is safe, provided with their basic needs and make sure their families have the necessary support to care for them.  In order for me to fulfill my passion, I need to gain a deeper international perspective in child & family focused social work, expose myself to various intervention models that will inform my future practice and most importantly provide children & families in need opportunities for better health and social development outcomes. From March 9th-18th, 2018,  I have an amazing opportunity to spend spring break in Guatemala on a Child Welfare study abroad trip! 


My goal is to raise $2,795 which will be used for international airfare, in-country travel/transportation, meals, accomodations, agency visits, guest lectures, program fees, excursions, cultural events and insurance abroad. 


I created this campaign because in order for me to be a culturally competent child development professional, I need to make Guatemala a reality. I want to be an active Change Agent in this world. I believe this trip will allow me to learn a new culture, understand social challenges other countries endure, and gain deeper knowledge to be a successful future international social worker. I'm inviting all of you to be a part of my trip and am hopeful that my goal can be met through your kind donations. If you are able to donate, whether big or small, I am sincerely grateful for your generosity. Whether you are able to help financially or not, I also ask for something very important: your thoughts and prayers. My prayer is for this experience to make a severe impact on my life and future and that I would make a positive difference in the lives of the ones that I will be helping on this trip and others in the future.
