Google Glass 4 injured photographer

Donation protected
My name is John Ricard.  I am a NYC based portrait photographer.  On December 4th, a fellow NY photographer and friend of mine, Bryan Bedder, was on a break from an assignment in Miami and suffered a severe injury.   There is currently a GoFundMe page for Bryan (http://www.gofundme.com/ib48uo), and this description of his injury is taken from that page:

"On December 4, our dear friend, loving father, commited husband, fellow photographer & surfer and all around amazing human being, Bryan Bedder, while about waist high in the ocean, innocently dove into a wave and collided with sandbar in South Beach, while on a break between job assignments. His C5 vertebrae fractured and slipped, pinching his spinal cord, which rendered him totally immobile."

Although Bryan is not a close friend of mine -we've never gone out for a beer, he is one of those photographers that I always love running into when I'm shooting an event.  I know we'll engage in a cool conversation and i know I'll be smiling throughout.

When I heard about his accident, I kept wishing there was something I could do. My first thought was that I should ask him to borrow his camera until he recovers. Maybe it would be cool to him if his camera was still creating art while he was in recovery.  But something didn't feel right about that.  Maybe it was the fact that I wouldn't produce anything near as good as what Bryan shoots.  Check his website to see his coverage of Hurricaine Sandy here in NY.  http://bryanbedder.photoshelter.com/#!/index

I realized a much better idea was to find a way for Brayn to shoot while still in the hospital with only limited using of his limbs.  Enter, Google Glass.  Using this revolutionary camera, Bryan can easily shoot photographs by simply blinking his right eye.  Imagine what interesting images he can create throughout his healing process.  Point of view images of his recovery.  I'll bet this has never been done before.  Maybe Bryan would be excited to undertake such a project.

I am looking to raise $1,500 to buy Google Glass directly from the Google site and to send it to Bryan.

I haven't used GoFundMe in the past, but I personally state here that if we do not raise the full amount, I will refund everyone's money.  Also, for anyone who donates $50, I am willing to do a Skype session with you and I will offer business advice, marketing advice or portfolio critique.  I have been a full time professional photographer for 14 years.  I believe I have some insight into these areas.  If you donate $100 or more, I will offer a 1 hour consultation in my studio near Times Square.  You can use the hour to discuss the topics I mentioned, or you can bring a model and I'll help you with lighting and composition and make sure you get some strong images.

I have not spoken to Bryan, nor his wife about this project. I think it would be cool if it were a surprise.
