Social Media Hurricane Relief Fund

Donation protected
Hey guys!

There are over 10,000 people who are part of this amazing #GraceFitGuide Community, and even more people who follow along on social media, for whatever reason. If every one of us gave £1/$1/€1/¥1, we would raise an incredible amount of money. Whatever you spend on your morning coffee or fuel or that new dress you really want - it can wait, please donate. Let's help social media do something good.

I am always so amazed at how incredible this community is: I see people helping out on everything from form tips to relationship trouble - wouldn’t it be incredible to take that a step further and help people who really need it right now!

Whole islands are being wiped out. Islands which do not have the luxury of being able to just redirect government funds to rebuild.

To add a little incentive, 10 people who donate and share will win a #GraceFitGuide!

Please donate and share - let’s show the world how strong the social media community is and get helping!

Loads of love,

Grace xx

Please feel free to state in your donation comment organisations you’d love to be included in this donation effort.

What more can you do?

Remember that if we really want to help prevent these natural disasters, we have to be kind to the earth.

Donating money is fantastic, but how about we take it back to the source: consider removing meat from your diet one day a week (or more if you can!), walking to work or using public transport, turning off the lights when you’re not in the room and recycling. You don’t need to change everything about your lifestyle to make a change, every little helps.

What’s Happening?

Hurricane Irma (source http://www.news24.com/World/News/what-we-know-about-hurricane-irma-facts-figures-forecast-20170908):

Hurricane Irma has pounded the Caribbean, destroying homes and leaving at least 10 people dead. The rare Category Five hurricane is now heading towards the United States.
Up to a million people have been ordered to flee in the US. The International Red Cross says 1.2 million people have already been hit by Irma - a number that could rise to 26 million.
The bill for loss and damage from the hurricane could hit $120bn in the United States and the Caribbean, according to data modelling firm Enki Research.
Barbuda suffered "absolute devastation", with up to 30% of properties demolished, Prime Minister Gaston Browne said. One person is known to have died on the island of 1 600 residents, apparently a child whose family was trying to get to safer ground.
St Martin: “it’s an enormous catastrophe. Ninety-five percent of the island is destroyed. I'm in shock. It's frightening.” - Daniel Gibbs
Puerto Rico: “More than half of Puerto Rico's population of three million was without power, with rivers bursting their banks in the centre and north of the island where Governor Ricardo Rossello activated the National Guard and opened storm shelters sufficient for up to 62 000 people.”
US Virgin Islands: “At least four people were killed in the US Virgin Islands, officials told AFP, with the toll expected to rise.”
The trajectories predicted for Irma cover many different countries - many different communities, families and lives.

Hurricanes Jose and Katia:

“Irma isn't alone. The monstrous hurricane is joined by two smaller storms, hurricanes Katia and Jose, which are currently moving westward of the Atlantic Ocean.” - https://www.bustle.com/p/8-hurricane-irma-facts-you-need-to-know-as-the-storm-churns-towards-the-us-81411

Mexico’s Earthquake (source: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/sep/08/mexico-earthquake-warning-tsunami):

The strongest earthquake to hit Mexico in a century has left at least 61 people dead, toppling houses, damaging hospitals and government offices, and sparking mass evacuations.

Hurricane Harvey (source: https://www.thebalance.com/hurricane-harvey-facts-damage-costs-4150087):

As we know, Hurricane Harvey hit the US on the 25th August causing mass devastation. It caused at least $180 billion in damage. That’s more than any other natural disaster in U.S history, except the largest estimates of Hurricane Katrina damage.
