GEP Summer Camp Campaign
Please help us provide a summer camp experience for the most underprivileged in Charlotte!
When school doors close for the summer, for many children, it means the end of access to educational opportunities as well as basic needs such as food and adequate supervision. Over 100 students in the Greater Enrichment Program, Charlotte’s longest-running out of school program, will not have the opportunity to participate in a summer camp this summer.
WE NEED YOUR HELP.
The Greater Enrichment Program (GEP) has designed a unique camp experience, Summer in the City, to help prevent summer learning loss, cultivate social and emotional growth, and keep students active during the summer months. GEP runs completely on donations and the families of the children are not charged at all for any of the services.
For every donation of $400, you can help one child experience a positive six week summer camp experience. Just a few of the many things you’ll be supporting:
LITERACY: 240 hours of curriculum and programming (8 hours a day)
NUTRITION: A healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack each day (total of 90 meals -- many of which may be the only meals these children recieve during the summer)
TRANSPORTATION: Safe transportation to and from camp each day
MENTORING: Mentoring from professional and caring adult staff (1:15 ratio)
WELLNESS: Weekly activities such as tennis, golf, and swimming
OTHER GREAT OPPORTUNITIES: Fieldtrips to museums and more and activities promoting self-esteem and good citizenship
Please help us ensure that our students are safe this summer and that they don’t fall behind when school restarts. Be a part of the change and help these children have proper access to educational opportunities this summer.
One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world.
