Gary Bradford's Funeral

We need donations to help pay our father's funeral expenses.  He had been diagnosed with Prostate cancer with metastases and passed away a lot sooner than was expected.  He moved here Dec 5th to live out his time, which we figured was no more than 6 months, with his kids and grand kids.  Little did we know, 26 days later, New Year's Eve at 5:20 am, he would be called home. We are glad he is no longer in pain, but never expected this.

He had actually done the right thing and not only arranged his burial (direct with no services, if you know my dad, you know why...short and sweet), but had started a life insurance policy.  He didn't realize his illness was as bad as it was, and knew between his age and family history, he wanted to be responsible and take care of this before anything did happen.  I called the funeral home, who assured me more than once that all would be taken care of, drive on up to ATL and put Dad's plan into action.  Once we got there, they looked at his policy and called the insurance who told them they had to investigate it to see if they would pay.  The funeral home has no financing available and wont work with us and the insurance company is fighting it because the policy is only 14 months old and they can contest for 24 months.  Our dad is sitting in a holding facility and we have no more than 2-3 weeks to come up with the funds to bury him or they will cremate against his wishes. They are working with us "right now" to not charge us a per day fee for him, but that is only for a few days.  In a couple of weeks at best, mid-January, we are going to have to pay up or lose the rights to his last wishes.  

This has been a huge nightmare that has been placed in our lives at a time we should not only be grieving for our loss, but also celebrating his life, and we are in such "limbo" that we can do neither.  Please help in any way you can, even if it's pocket change.  My family thanks you for anything you can do.
