I am a life long, self made, mountain bike rider.
From riding the city bus at 12 to my first bike shop job, across town, after school.
To criss-crossing the USA to race, ride and work in all things mtb.
This has always been my life.
I might have been the guy who gave you good trail advice on your vacation to ride in Colorado.
Or who helped build the trail you have ridden every week for 30 years.
Or who straightened out your mangled bike and saved your trip to Moab.
Recent years have seen me steer away from turning wrenches (my main source of income) to riding my bike more (aka. getting back to basics), being involved in the adoption of 2 high altitude trails in the Central Colorado Rockies and volunteering with both the Rocky Mountain Enduro Series and the Big Mountain Enduro series (both Colorado based racing events).
I am looking for help to get through a recent very bad injury that I sustained (see photo documentation) while riding trails in Southern Utah.
I have undergone 1 surgery to re-set my foot and fill a bone gap (a piece of bone fell out) in my left ankle so far.
I will be going in for a follow up surgery to A. See how healing is progressing and if anything else needs work
and B. Replace the grape sized piece of bone that is missing and is being held in place with a cement block.
I'm not really sure how all this will progress. I know for sure I'm looking at a 1/2 of a year (of prime riding/working months) lost and I am looking for assistance primarily to cover lost income and keep food on the table.
I live in Salida (Colorado) but am currently without a brick and mortar home.
So far I have been staying with friends and looking for a place to convalesce over the next 3 months.
I know there are far more people out there that are in greater need than myself and I am lucky to have all the help I have received so far (and still have a foot!).
I appreciate any and all donations towards my cause of getting well and returning to spreading the stoke of two wheels and dirt to the world.
