Devoted Father, Husband, and Chef
Upon speaking to others who had worked with Robert and revered him as much as I did, we wanted to respect the family's privacy but also make a small effort to do something for them in the immediate wake of this unthinkable loss.  Today we received Irene and the kids' permission to generate this fundraiser, we hope you are able to help, however big or small.
Robert was an encyclopedia of knowledge, one of the most humble, generous, driven, and caring spirits any of us had ever met.  It would be impossible to sufficiently eulogize him as so many of us thought the absolute world of him.  There's no telling the thousands of lives he touched throughout his career, whether preparing memorable meals for families, baking some of the best bread around, or mentoring cooks and servers to work harder at their craft.
I never knew Robert to ask for much help in the kitchen.  Supermaning stock pots up and down basement staircases; broken fingers, sprained joints, and damaged ligaments were never enough to actually stop the man from finishing a shift.  He cared deeply about his profession but more than anything his heart and determination was driven by the love for his family.
Nothing meant more to Robert than his wife Irene, their 8 children, and their farm in Perryville.  Every week, for years he would spend 10+ hours driving to and from work just so he could help provide for them and share his passion for food with our community.  If you ever met Robert, you just knew he was cut from a finer cloth than the rest of us.
We are humbly asking for any considerations you can offer.  It would mean a lot to be able to give some help to Robert's family for what he gave this community through his life and work.
I feel like we can do better than $5,000 but I would hate to miss the goal and not be able to give them everything we raise.  Anything helps, thank you!
