This Young Adult Congress, will be an historic gathering of young people, teachers, and Civil Rights veterans from across the country. Not only will we learn about the agenda and curriculum of the first Freedom Schools, begun in 1964 during the push for voting rights in the south, but will also be engaged in learning strategies for currently organizing youth and communities to make a demand for quality education as a Constitutional right. Together, we will be a part of a new history being lived and written.
We will use these five days to investigate the events, people, and processes that shook the nation in 1964. And with our discoveries, we will begin to strategize how to join with national heroes like Civil Rights legend and MacArthur Genius Fellow, Bob Moses, to engage our home communities in the on-going drive toward making our nation’s dreams of democracy a reality.
If you would like to make a donation toward the cost of our participation in this conference we would greatly appreciate it. No contribution is too small. We thank you immensely in advance and hope to reach our goal for this once in lifetime opportunity!
