Keep Abdi Free and at Home

Donation protected
Civil War in the 1980's led to the collapse of the government of Somalia in 1991.  Abdi and his family fled to America to escape the violence and anarchy that ensued.  Abdulkadir Shanf Mohamed Abdi, or "Abdi" to his friends has been in America for over 20 years.

Today, Abdi is a leader in the recovery community and he helps other men find their way into recovery.   He recently met the love of his life and they were married in rooftop ceremony in May.

On Tuesday, January 30th, at a regular immigration check in, Abdi was arrested and detained.  He has been moved to a federal holding facility.  Deportation proceedings will begin soon.

Please help us keep Abdi with his family and in this country.   Abdi is a good man, a devoted husband, a supportive friend and an important asset to the Minneapolis community.

This page has been created by caring friends who want to help Abdi and his family through this difficult period.

The majority of money raised will be used to pay for legal fees.  Abdi was gainfully employed in the recovery community and his spouse will need help paying living expenses while he is detained.
