Fred & Karen Legendre (high-risk Multiple Myeloma)
Donation protected
Fred was diagnosed with high-risk Multiple Myeloma in January 2022.
Multiple Myeloma is a rare blood cancer that affects the bone marrow of patients
This has caused Fred to have multiple fractures, broken bones, and pain throughout his entire body over the past year.
He started chemo and immunotherapy earlier this year with a local oncologist and is doing well with treatment; however, because of his high-risk status and the seriousness of a multiple myeloma diagnosis, along with the relapse tendency of the disease, Fred has also started seeing a top multiple myeloma specialist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Myeloma Center. Here they perform some of the top research and treatment in the field of Myeloma.
After a week-long series of tests, it was determined by his specialist that Fred will need tandem Stem Cell Transplants with a goal of removing cancer and putting him in a deep and lasting remission.
These transplants, as well as related treatments, will take place in Little Rock over a period of a few months and will require at least (3) 3-4 week stays for Fred and Karen.
Because these procedures will come with many out-of-pocket expenses, funds collected will be used for extended stay lodging, meals, transportation, time away from work and taking a burden off both of them to provide while Fred is recovering.
When Karen first told me about Fred's diagnosis, she also sent me this verse: "I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done." Psalm 118:17
I hope you will join me with your support, prayers, and sharing this campaign.
