Fred's Colon Cancer Expenses

Donation protected
Let me start by introducing myself as all that read this may not know me. My name is Tracy Lindsey and I am here on behalf of my husband Fred. What brings us here? Two words....Colon Cancer.

On Jan 27, 2016, Fred had a routine colonoscopy, which in turn found a malignant tumor, which in turn...well, you can guess the rest.

Since then, he's had MRI's, CT Scans and then today (3/31/16), had another CT as well as a PET Scan. He will start his Chemo treatments as well as his radiation treatments (yes, he is having both of those) on April 11th. Right now at this moment, we don't know how many chemo treatments, we will find that out when they call us with his Chemo schedule, but we do know that he will have radiation treatment for 5 consecutive days (4/11 - 4/15). Then they will give his body a week of rest, then sometime the following week (the week of the 25-29) he will have surgery. The plan at the moment is they are going to remove the portion of his colon that has the tumor as well as the fatty tissue between the colon & the pelvic area where it has spread out too. Then they will reattach the two ends & close him up.

We have been told he will be in the hospital for 5-7 days until he can accomplish 4 things, eat, use the restroom, walk and his pain is under control. Then he will be able to come home where he will be off a minimum of 30 days. Depending on how everything goes & how fast he heals.

Our portion as well as the co-pays for this is astronomical. I have already talked to the insurance company directly. This is all in addition to the medical bills we are already barely staying afloat with due to his Kidney Stone ordeal in 2014 that lasted 5 weeks before they finally did surgery on him to remove and then my breast cancer last year in 2015.

The bills have already started, his portion of one of the first scans is $809.31 and that is just the first of many to come.

So I am asking for help, if you can find it in your heart to help, any amount at all you can help with. Even if it is a dollar, that's one less that we have to try to find the money for and one less dollar that we have to worry about. If you could also please, please, pass this along to others that may be able to help, I cannot express how much this would mean to us.

If you any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to provide you with answers.

So far Fred's team includes:

Gary D. Dunn, MD, FACS, FASCRS, Associate Professor, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Stephenson Cancer Center

Terence S. Herman, MD, Professor and Chairman Radiation Oncology, Adjunct Professor Internal Medicine/Hematology/Oncology, Stephensen Cancer Center

Rebekah Maymani, MD, Resident Physician, Radiation Oncology, Stephenson Cancer Center

We won't find out the name of the Dr's that will be handling his Chemo until they call us with his schedule. All we know about that is it will start on the 11th and he will go from that clinic (3rd floor) down to the Radiation Oncology clinic (on the lower level). I will add names as we gather them up.

Thank you for giving me your time in reading this & I truly hope you can find it in your heart to help us. Blessings to all.
