Fred Griffith - Wall of the Fallen

Nearly five-months have passed since San Diego career tow truck operator, Fred Griffith (55), was struck and killed by a repeat DUI offender allegedly driving on a suspended license and intoxicated when he chose to drive the shoulder of State Route 52. Fred died of on-scene injuries inflicted and not too far from where he resided leaving behind three sons. His death underlines the dangers that tow operators face every day.
Fred operated one of San Diego’s largest big-rig wreckers and was a familiar face and outstanding talent when working heavy-duty and semi related tows and recoveries. Fred was known through Southern California as a safety instructor who taught tow truck safety to fellow towers at San Diego’s RoadOne Towing. Fred was known for stopping to block and assist to any tower he happened upon, regardless as to what company was working the shoulder. There's not a day gone by where we think of Fred and his huge, tell-tale smile ... we miss you more than you’ll ever know.
On September 16th, 2017, the name and presence of our friend and loving father , Fred Griffith, will be added to the tow operator’s, Wall of the Fallen, at the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In a memorial ceremony that honors tow operators killed in the line-of-duty, this GoFundMe account is initiated on behalf of the surviving sons, Michael, David and Joe.
With hopes of raising funds to send the boys to Chattanooga, being present to witness their father’s name unveiled provides to them an ounce of closure to their father's life so tragically taken. Would you please donate to help fund airfare, hotel, taxi, and travel expenses for them to attend the Wall of the Fallen ceremony and visit the museum? Any amount you provide will be greatly appreciated. Monies donated will be managed and provided to the Griffith sons prior to their travel. And, if there are remaining donations counted, they too will be provided for day-to-day on-going expenses. They are excited to be able to travel to this memorial and they thank you for your generosity.
