Franny said "I am NOT my Legs!"

Donation protected
Francisca Sweeting, age 40, who we affectionately call "Franny", had a second major life changing experience. (The first one was when her only brother was killed while serving in the Army) She barely had time to grieve, when on March 15, 2019, while driving home from her place of employment, she felt major pains in her legs that she thought were Charley horses. She was unable to walk or continue to drive. A friend took her to the hospital and that's where the nightmare began. She suffered from blood clots in both legs that cut off the circulation and blood flow. Unfortunately, this is a hereditary issue that took the life of her Great Aunt and Grandmother.  After numerous surgeries and many attempts to save her legs she eventually had to have both legs amputated at the knees!
This measure saved her life and changed her life at the same time. She went from being gainfully employed and being able to provide for her two sons, her grandson and her mother to being in the hospital for over 3 months and counting! Her husband is also disabled and unable to work. She is grateful to still have her life but the worry of how this will affect her family is weighing heavy on her. She knows that her loss of income and the additional expenses that await a double amputee is enormous!!! And of ALL the things she will have to face and conquer, we don't want financial issues to be one of them!
This family is in dire need of the help and assistance of the entire village!!!  They need money to pay backed up rent, utilities, uncovered medical expenses (from JFK hospital in WPB, being airlifted and by ambulance, twice to Shands Hospital in Gainesville (not covered by her insurance) and rehab at Bethesda Hospital in WPB-the deductibles, co-payments, and payments for services not covered by health insurance add up to crushing levels of debt and most amputees who file for Social Security disability benefits wait, on average, two years prior to receiving those benefits!); two prosthetic legs (The price of new prosthetic legs can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000, yet even the top-of-the-line prosthetic limb will only last three to five years. This means that she can count on spending thousands of dollars for a new prosthesis on a fairly regular schedule-and she needs two!), an electric wheelchair/Scooter & other walking aids, SideStix Crutches for getting around inside, a wheelchair ramp, a handicap equipped van,  handicap shower equipment- rack and shower chair; psychological counseling (the amputation of a limb brings physical, emotional, social, and financial challenges); physical therapy equipment-strengthening weights; skin/wound care; compression stockings and since she can no longer do the work she used to do (security) she will now have to begin a way of contributing to her family's household expenses. Everyone who knows her is familiar with her creative abilities. She makes household decorations, party favors, baskets, gifts for any occasion etc so she will need to get materials, a computer and website to start her own business.
Franny has roots in Key West, Fl; St, Pete, Fl and now lives in West Palm Beach, Fl. No donation is too great or too small!!! And All donations are already appreciated!!! And ALL prayers are needed!!! #LoveforFranny #IamNOTmylegs  #FrannyStrong #Frannyneedsthevillage
