Frankie's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Valerie Jones and I created this account on behalf of my 23 year old little brother, Frankie Molina. On Wednesday, August 6th, at 11:30pm, my brother was taken to the ER due to him having chest pains and trouble breathing. I received a call from my mother at 1am on Thursday, August 7th, that they had ran X-rays on him and had found a mass in his chest cavity. I raced to the hospital to support my very upset mother and little brother. Shortly after, he had a CT Scan completed and biopsy. At first, they thought it was either an infection (germ buildup in Thymus Glands) or lymphoma.

At 5am, Frankie was admitted at Kaiser Permanente hospital in Yorba Linda, CA. The biggest concern at this point was the location of the mass which was located near his main artery. Due to the location of mass, the hospital insisted on monitoring his heart for the next few days. On Friday, August 8th, we were told that according to his blood test results, he has cancer. As you can imagine, we were all very devastated. On Saturday, August 9th, he was diagnosed with Germ Cell Cancer and we were told that he would have to start chemotherapy treatments immediately. As we sat there in disbelief, all we could do was show him love and come together as a family to support him through this long battle that lies ahead of him. He started his first round of chemotherapy treatments that day and continued his hospital stay until he was released on Thursday, August 14th.

My brother, Frankie, will not be able to go back to work for months and my mother has taken time off to attend to her youngest son. Frankie will be applying for disability (a few months) but it will not be nearly enough to get him through his hospital bills and medications. My brother will receive 5 days of treatment every 3 weeks and will have to be admitted so they can monitor his heart. With that comes a hefty deductible (each time) and hopefully surgery will come next. The goal for the chemotherapy is to shrink the tumor in order for them to surgically remove it. We were told that it's aggressive but Frankie is one tough cookie. Your donation will help with his multiple deductibles (each time he gets admitted for chemo treatments) and medications.

What is Germ Cell Cancer?
Germ cells are the cells in the body that develop into sperm and eggs. They are mainly found in the ovary or testicle. But they can sometimes be left behind in other parts of the body from when you developed in the womb. Germ cell tumors can develop from these cells. They most often develop in the ovary or testicle, as that is where most germ cells are. But they can develop anywhere there are germ cells. The most common germ cell tumors are teratomas or seminomas of the testicle in men. Cancers that develop from germ cells in other parts of the body are rare. They may grow in a part of the chest called the mediastinum. The mediastinum is the area between the lungs, which contains the heart. (Frankie's tumor is the size of a softball and located in the mediastinum)

Our family would appreciate all the help we can get during this terrible journey we have ahead of us. We're hopeful with his age and his health, that he will overcome this horrible disease. We trust that GOD will be standing right by his side every step of the way and we pray for a speedy recovery for our little brother! Every little bit goes a very long way and we would like to thank you all for your continued prayers, love and support! Frankie has a heart of gold and I know that this would mean the world to him. He's always been a giver, now its time for us to give to him. Thank you again!
