Hi everyone!
It is that time of year where I am calling upon my village to donate to my Residential Care Group Homes while they are in foster care, DSS custody, and/or have parents who are incarcerated, deceased, or unable to care for them. I work with a total of 3 locations that house 4 boys each, 12 in total, ranging in age from 12 to 18. Unfortunately our funds have been cut by the government so we are in need more than ever. Our goal is to raise enough funds to spend $100 dollars on each person. They all go to school together and know each other well. Turns out I wasn't able to separate the income stream from last year, so I adjusted the total amount to include our funds from 2024.
Some of this year's requests include the following items:
Old Spice bodywash and deoderant, boy's watches, Poke-e-mon cards (to fit in with the other kids), Mp3 players to listen to music (they don't have phones), towels, "fancy" laundry detergent like Tide, mechanical pencils, socks and underwear, assorted clothes as they say "actually fits me", and a few art kits.
If you would like to be a part of their Christmas holiday, please feel free to contribute! These gifts make a MASSIVE difference for them. This enables them to feel worthy, not forgotten, and as they say " fit in and feel normal like the other kids". This is a very big deal to them since most would not get presents at all. They STILL love having rubrics cube races from last year's gifts. Teaching each other how to solve them has brought them all closer together.
I will post and update pictures as I go and of course the outcome. My elves (my son and my mom) help me wrap and organize.
With MASSIVE love and gratitude,
Christine Morrison, MSW, LCSW (License #C005918)
Note: This is not a scam. You may Google my name as a registered Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I conduct weekly group and individual therapy sessions with each boy at 3 different group home sites (LifeCycles Residential Care Facility, Harvest House Residential Care Facility and Solutions CSA, LLC, all in Alamance County NC). Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. Thank You and Happy Holidays!!
