Support Fort Bend Theatre

This year has been an exciting one at Fort Bend Theatre - we pulled off an amazing production of Annie at the wonderful Miller Outdoor Theatre, sold out houses for the return of Princess Christmas, added a new addition to our education program with the Action Reaction Troupe which had its first performance with John Lennon and Me, and received a substantial grant to bring the arts and a positive message to local elementary schools during drug awareness week.

For this upcoming year, Fort Bend Theatre has wonderful things planned from exciting shows like Legally Blonde the Musical to a potential move to a great, new space! Despite our exciting achievements, plans and commitment to the theatre's work in the community, we still need your help. I'm sure you don't need to be told the facts about the continuing struggle of the economy, the struggle of the nation's nonprofits and the crisis of the arts. More than ever, it is imperative to invest in keeping our arts organizations alive in our community.

"Culture and the arts are essential means by which all people explain their experience, shape their identity and imagine the future. In their constancy and their variety, culture and the arts allow us to explore our individual humanity, and to see our society whole. People need the arts to make sense of their lives, to know who they are. But our democracy needs the arts, too. The arts animate civil society. They stretch our imagination. They increase our compassion for others by providing creative ways for us to understand and deal with differences. The arts protect and enrich the liberty, the human dignity and the public discourse that are at the heart of a healthy democracy."[1] 

A community that enables artistic participation builds sustainable relationships within the community on both a personal and business level, increases audience development, encourages community programming and nurtures talent. We know that Fort Bend Theatre is on the cutting edge of civic responsibility, and has such as given back directly to the community to such other worthwhile non-profits such as Fort Bend Child Advocates, Fort Bend Literacy Council, Fort Bend Women's Shelter, and last season even purchased both a rehabilitative adaptive tricycle and bicycle for SugarLand Texas Children's Hospital Rehab Department.

Despite all of our good works and accomplishments this year, as Fort Bend Theatre looks to the close of the 2012, we find ourselves with an urgent need for donations in order to avoid ending in the red. Please consider investing in your community and the role that Fort Bend Theatre plays by giving a tax-deductible donation.
