Kiahni to the World Champ's Finland

Have you ever been given the opportunity of a life-time but wondered if it was at all possible?
After only playing floorball for a relatively short time I have been honoured with selection in the Australian Team for the up-coming Floorball World Championships in Finland, December 2015. Many young Aussie sports men & women strive to represent their country, for that to now be a reality I am totally overwhelmed but extremely excited about the opportunities it offers. Being in my final HSC year it has been tough juggling study with my sporting endeavours, but thankfully the efforts have been rewarded. To visit another country is a wonderful experience but to represent your country on a world stage is a dream come true, especially being one of the youngest members in the squad. The cost of the trip will be around $7000 in total on top of the significant costs in getting to this stage. I have always been encouraged to follow my sporting passions, but being the oldest of 4 children in my family, I want my brother and sisters to still get a visit from Santa at Christmas time.

What is Floorball I hear you ask? While it is extremely popular throughout European countries it is gaining a lot of momentum within Australia, being recently endorsed by the Australian Sporting Commission. It is hoped that it will become an Olympic sport in the near future. If you cross ice hockey, field hockey & soccer then play it on a basketball court with boards to keep the ball in play you can start to imagine the game of Floorball. It is fast-paced action with plenty of scoring opportunities, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats.
