No Flood Insurance. We Lost Everything.

Last week on Saturday, September seventh, there was a major flash flood that passed through - literally through - our home. It managed to break through one of our windows and let mud and water flow in until it covered the entire inside of our home with four feet of mud.

We had to break through one of our windows to get out of the house since all of our doors open inwards, but luckily everyone made it outside safely minus a few cuts and bruises.

We live in the desert, floods aren't normal. We dont have flood insurance which is separate from regular home owner's insurance.

We tried contacting our insurance company, but they didn't work on the weekends. Finally, we got an appointment with an adjuster and he came out on Tuesday. We found out that they weren't going to cover anything.

Now our home is destroyed and we have no money to fix it. All of our furniture, clothes and every daily thing used in life has been soaked in mud. Which, of course, deems most of it unusable.

The damages total up to anywhere around $400,000 dollars, so we're hoping we can find some funds from here.

We live up in the mountains, so our dirt road was ruined because of a six foot drop in the center. We've already spent $2000 on fixing it. The money we raise here will be used to buy clothes, furniture and whatever we've lost that we need.
