Flight Club 502, Dream, Build, Fly

Tax deductible
Flight Club 502 is helping kids, Dream, Build and Fly!

Mission:
As an approved 501(c)3 non-profit with nearly 100 members, our goal is to inspire the Youth of America by using aviation based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to build an RV-12 airplane.  In the process, our youth and tomorrow’s leaders will be given good decision-making tools which will be used throughout their lives.

We began building the RV-12 in August 2017 (thanks to the UPS pilots in Vintage Warbirds, Keith and Missy Aultman, and Jeff Daus).  The kids have made such great progress but now we need your help!  We must raise an additional $49,000 in order to purchase the engine, avionics and other parts to complete this RV-12.  When finished they will fly the RV-12 across America to engage with other kids and show them what aviation is all about.

You can also follow the kids progress at the Flight Club 502 Website .  You’ll be able to see your donations at work by watching the RV-12 build progress and by seeing our youth members fly, solo, earn their private pilot’s license.  Or stop by Bowman Airfield and watch the kids work on the RV-12 every Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 Noon and on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5 PM to 7 PM.

Once this building project is complete, the plane is inspected by the FAA and given a test flight.  Then we plan to leave on an inspirational tour around the country where we will talk with groups of students at each stop.  After we return from our “Flight Across America”, the plane will be used for decades to train young people to fly.

Flight Club 502 also gives kids a safe place to go.  They are learning to make good lifestyle decisions and leadership skills through aviation focused STEM activities.  Our kids (grades 8 – 12) are gaining these valuable life skills by flying our Cessna 150, in after school aviation programs, summer camps, and private pilot ground school.

This project is changing the lives of teens, but we need your help to complete it.  Kids from every neighborhood are working side by side to get it done.  It has been an amazing experience for the adult volunteers and all of us.  Through this and future projects, we want the youth of America to recognize the importance of good lifestyle decisions, do well in school, and understand the importance of being good role models to younger kids.  We recognize the sacrifices others have made and are proud to live in a free country that embraces and encourages all people.  Flight Club 502 reflects those values.

Many of our youth members are taking advantage of low-cost flight training and instruction in the club’s Cessna 150.

We’ve learned the important lesson that we can’t do this alone.  A special SHOUT OUT and Thank you to all of the UPS Pilots and Mechanics, Jeff Daus and Vintage Warbirds, Keith and Missy Aultman.  We also  want to thank you, our mentors and donors for giving us this life-changing opportunity!   We can’t do this without you, our donors!  All donations are appreciated and once we’re in the air, you’ll be able look up and proudly say, “I helped build that airplane".
