Bring Fit Steps to Abilene
Donation protected
"FitSTEPS for Life® is the only known evidence-based cancer rehabilitation program in the United States that is free, community-based and achieves unprecedented immediate benefits for cancer survivors—at diagnosis to post treatment. The program is designed to assist cancer survivors in achieving and maintaining as much functional mobility and endurance as possible during their cancer experience."
This is a non-profit organization that, with referal from their oncologist, allows individuals with cancer to exercise for free. It is something that will greatly benefit the cancer community of Abilene. All money raised will be put towards what little equipment that we need. Any amount will help bring this great foundation to Abilene.
Everyone has been in some way affected by cancer. We are partnering with a non-profit Cancer Foundation for Life to bring a free exercise facility where all cancer patients are eligible to come and exercise during AND after treatment. They will do so with the guidance of a trained cancer exercise professional in an individualized program that will lead them to their exercise goals.
Here are some benefits of exercise during and after cancer treatment.
-- Improves Cancer Survival
Up to 50% in colon, breast, and prostate cancer
-- Improves Chronic Diseases
-- Enhances balance and mobility
-- Reduces Side Effects of Treatment
-- Improves Chronic Fatigue
