<div><strong>Ein einzigartiges Kulturprojekt kämpft ums Überleben</strong>

<div>Seit 22 Jahren ist HamburgerKino e.V. eine gute Adresse für Filmschaffende, Kreative und Kulturliebhaber:innen. Mit der FilmFabrique im Oberhafenquartier als Herzstück unseres Vereins bieten wir bereits seit 2014 einen offenen Raum für kreativen Austausch, vielfältige Projekte und Weiterbildung.

<div>Unser Kurzfilmfestival, das KinoKabaret Hamburg, fand 2024 zum 20. Mal statt und hat über die Jahre Filmschaffende aus der ganzen Welt zusammengebracht - Menschen mit unterschiedlichsten Hintergründen, Kulturen und Perspektiven, die hier gemeinsam Geschichten auf die Leinwand bringen. So verbinden wir internationale Talente und fördern junge Kreative.

<div>Darüber hinaus ist die FilmFabrique regelmäßig Gastgeber für zahlreiche Veranstaltungen der Filmbranche – von Netzwerktreffen bis hin zu Workshops und Screenings. Auch die Berufsverbände der Filmbranche wie der BVK oder der BFFS und verschiedene Interessenvertretungen nutzen die Räume regelmäßig. Seit fast drei Jahren haben wir das KinderKino als Teil unserer Programmarbeit etabliert - ein Format, das sonst in den Stadtteilkulturhäusern der verschiedenen Bezirke stattfindet.

<div>Die Filmschule Hamburg Berlin sitzt seit Schließung des Filmhauses in Ottensen bei uns mit im Haus und veranstaltet hier regelmäßig ihre Seminare, darunter Wochenendkurse zu Drehbuch, Regie und anderen filmischen Themen. Damit stärken wir gemeinsam die filmische Weiterbildung und bieten Filmschaffenden eine zentrale Anlaufstelle.

<div><strong>Doch jetzt steht alles auf der Kippe!</strong>

<div>Die letzten Jahre haben uns schwer mitgenommen: Die Pandemie hat unsere Arbeit ausgebremst - und nun drohen uns die massiven Sanierungsmaßnahmen im Gebäude endgültig das Genick zu brechen. Unser Betrieb ist auf allen Ebenen eingeschränkt: Räume stehen nicht zur Verfügung, Veranstaltungen müssen wegen des Baulärms ausfallen, und unsere Finanzierungsmöglichkeiten schrumpfen drastisch. Der Umsatz ist um 75% zurückgegangen! Das Herzstück unseres Vereins und die offene, kreative Gemeinschaft sind in Gefahr.

<div>Wir haben im Ehrenamt unermüdlich für diesen Ort gekämpft: Umbauten realisiert, junge Talente gefördert, ein Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr der Kultur sowie einen Ausbildungsplatz geschaffen, monatlich kulturelle Veranstaltungen etabliert und Filmschaffende auf ihrem Weg begleitet und viele Projekte aus der Filmindustrie bei uns untergebracht.

<div>Doch wenn wir jetzt nicht handeln, wird es die FilmFabrique und HamburgerKino e.V. schon bald nicht mehr geben. Wir müssen noch offene Verbindlichkeiten ausgleichen und das Jahr 2025 wirtschaftlich überstehen - um dann im März 2026 nach fast zwölf Jahren im Oberhafen die FilmFabrique nochmal neu eröffnen zu können - Hamburgs neues Independent Filmhaus!

<div>Dafür führen wir jetzt schon Gespräche auf politischer Ebene und blicken hoffnungsvoll in die Zukunft. Wir freuen uns sehr auf das sanierte Gebäude, in dem dann noch mehr Möglichkeiten stecken - z. B. ein neuer Fluchtweg im Studio, um größere Veranstaltungen durchführen zu können, und ein neuer U-Bahn-Eingang zur U4-Haltestelle Hafencity Universität.

<div><strong>A unique cultural project is fighting for survival</strong>

<div>For 22 years, HamburgerKino e.V. has been a vital hub for filmmakers, creatives, and culture enthusiasts. Since 2014, our FilmFabrique in the Oberhafen district has been at the heart of our organization, providing an open space for creative exchange, diverse projects, and education.
</div>

</div>
<div>Our short film festival, KinoKabaret Hamburg, celebrated its 20th edition in 2024. Over the years, it has brought together filmmakers from all over the world - people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives who collaborate to bring stories to the big screen. In doing so, we connect international talent and support young creatives.
</div>

<div>Beyond that, FilmFabrique regularly hosts numerous film industry events, from networking meetups to workshops and screenings. Industry associations such as BVK and BFFS, along with various advocacy groups, frequently use our space. For nearly three years, we have also established KinderKino (Children’s Cinema) as part of our programming - an initiative that otherwise takes place in neighborhood cultural centers across different districts.

<div>Since the closure of the Filmhaus in Ottensen, the Hamburg Berlin Film School has also been based in our building, holding regular seminars here, including weekend courses on screenwriting, directing, and other film-related topics. Together, we strengthen film education and provide a central hub for filmmakers.

<div><strong>But now everything is at stake.</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>The past few years have taken a heavy toll on us. The pandemic slowed down our work, and now extensive renovation measures in the building threaten to shut us down for good. Our operations are severely restricted: spaces are unavailable, events are canceled due to construction noise, and our funding opportunities are dwindling dramatically. Revenue has dropped by 75%! The heart of our organization and our open, creative community is in danger.

<div><strong>Without support, we will have to give up.</strong>

<div>We have fought tirelessly for this space on a voluntary basis: We have completed renovations, supported young talents, and established a cultural Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) and an apprenticeship position. We have organized monthly cultural events and guided filmmakers on their journeys. We have hosted numerous projects from the film industry within our space.
</div>

<div>But if we don’t act now, FilmFabrique and HamburgerKino e.V. will soon cease to exist. We need to cover outstanding debts and financially sustain ourselves through 2025 - so that in March 2026, after nearly twelve years in Oberhafen, we can relaunch FilmFabrique as Hamburg’s new independent film house!

<div>We are already in discussions at the political level and are hopeful about the future. We are excited about the renovated building, which will offer even more opportunities - such as a new emergency exit in the studio to allow for larger events and a new entrance to the U4 Hafencity University subway station.
