Fighting for Mom...

After suffering from a headache for 4 days, my mom, Barb, was taken by ambulance to a regional hospital.  After a CT scan was run, we learned that mom had two "masses" on her brain.  She was then transferred to Riverside Hospital in Columbus.  That night we learned that the "masses" were tumors and mom has Stage IV terminal Lung Cancer that had spread to her brain.  Because of the threat of swelling and bleeding, brain surgery had to be conducted a few days later, where a lime-sized tumor was removed.

Fast forward one month, she is now her second week of radiation treatment to the brain to shrink the remaining tumor.  Next week chemo begins.

Retired, and on a Social Security income of no more that $1100.00 per month, the last thing mom needs to worry about are the medical bills that will begin trickling and eventually pouring in.  Fortunately, she has insurance, but the deductibles are outrageous for a fixed income household.

We are hoping that, with your generousity, we can offset some of these medical expenses, and allow the family to focus on making mom as comfortable and as happy as we can for as long as she is with us.
