<div>Six years ago, on Thanksgiving, my mom Offra’s speech suddenly began to slur. We thought it might be a stroke. Instead, she was diagnosed with bulbar-onset ALS, with an expected life expectancy of 2.5 years.

<div>That was six years ago—and Offra has never stopped fighting.

<div>She lost her ability to speak within months, but adapted, first communicating through text, then with one working finger. She continued walking every day, refusing a wheelchair even when it meant taking 45 minutes to walk ten steps. When her breathing weakened, she transitioned to assisted breathing and a feeding tube, never losing her will to live or her sense of humor.

<div>Today, Offra requires full-time professional care to remain safely at home. This level of care is the reason she is still with us—surrounded by love, dignity, and family.

<div>Three months ago, she was hospitalized with a serious infection. Doctors discussed passive euthanasia. When asked if she wanted to live, Offra answered “yes” again and again with her eyes.

<div>We are not people who ask for help. We have exhausted every savings account, sold everything we could, and applied for every assistance program available. The ongoing cost of care now exceeds what we can manage alone.

<div>We are hoping to raise funds to cover February and March, allowing us to maintain safe, professional in-home care for Offra during this critical time.
