Hello everyone,
Some of you who know Fernando and the Valdez family know that Fernando has been struggling with a blood infection in his foot and with the complication of his diabetic condition has led to a partial amputation of his left foot.
For those of you who are here as a friend of a friend, Fernando is well known for his colorful humor and his unwavering dedication to his two kids, Logan and Olivia. I'm continuously impressed at his and Jill's drive to provide opportunity for their kids. Fernando is an excellent father and husband and I'd like nothing more than to see us as a community of family, friends and neighbors assist him in getting back on his feet both literally and figuratively.
The near future will include physical therapy, fitting for a prosthetic foot and some practice to getting back to a new normal.
As you can imagine, this has been a significant trial for their family and I'm proposing that we come together to lessen the financial burden for Jill and Fernando with this fund raising campaign.
Funds will be made available for hospital expenses, physical therapy and for modifications to their home to suit their future needs.
In addition to this fund raising, we are also looking for a volunteer to lay tile.
For tile volunteers, please respond to this post and we will follow up.
Work will be performed in the Ingalls Park Neighborhood Joliet, IL over the next 2-3 weeks. (Early March 2018)
