Family lost their dad, Felicien Lukusa, to COVID19
Hello, My name is Dan, and I am fundraising on behalf of a family of 6 children that lost their father and husband, Felicien Lukusa, only a few days ago to the COVID-19 virus. I am their family priest, and the road ahead for this dear family is full of challenges and uncertainty that very few people ever have to experience in their lifetime.
As the primary bread winner for a household of 6 children, one of the greatest challenges this family faces without their father and husband is financial. Ranging from immediate needs, such as monthly bills, to long-term needs, such as ensuring the children have access to the education they require to grow and develop, this family needs our support, and they deserve it. I know this family, and they have a history of being generous with their neighbor, never calculating, and always helping those in need. But now the time has come where they need our help. I am asking for your support to ensure this family and the children are afforded the same opportunities many of us enjoy.
In the middle of June, both mom and dad were rushed to the hospital with COVID-19, and within 24 hours, both were placed on ventilators and unconscious. Left without their parents for a full month, the 2 eldest daughters were thrust into a role of responsibility to care for their 4 younger siblings, uncertain on the future of their parent's condition.
After 3 weeks on a ventilator, the mom recovered and went home to be with her children again. But only a week and a half later, they received the terrible news that their dad and husband, Felicien Lukusa, passed away.
Now, after a month battling with uncertainty and stress, the family is in a stage of both recovery and grieving. We continue to pray for them, and let's also give them a helping hand.
