Fedde Students Build 3D Printers

Donation protected
I am a science teacher at Fedde Middle School in Hawaiian Gardens, California. I want to give my students the opportunity to build their own 3D printers. With the money raised here, a minimum of four 3D printer kits will be purchased. Project teams of 10-12 students each will be guided in the process of building, calibrating, and testing their 3D printers. The students will then design and print projects, including prosthetic hands for disabled children around the world, assistive devices for the blind and elderly, and learning models/tools for elementary school children. Help us make a difference!

Your gift is more like an investment in the future of these young people, who have dreams and aspirations. They just need opportunity. Your generous donations will open doors for these inspired youth to help them accomplish their goals.

My middle school students come primarily from very low socio-economic backgrounds. Some are even homeless. Their access to and opportunities with cutting edge technology is severely limited, which puts them at an extreme disadvantage compared to students from communities where the latest tech is the norm. I have a passion to create a new reality for them, but I can't do it without the compassion and generosity of friends, family, community members, and even complete strangers. We need your help!!

The completed 3D printers will be permanently housed in a 3D print lab on campus that will be open for use by our entire school community.

3D printing is cutting edge technology. It has quickly become the standard for engineers, artists, makers, and inventors. My students will not have the opportunity to participate in this 21st century technology without your help.

Three years ago I knew almost nothing about 3D printing. I decided to buy a 3D printer kit and build one myself. I thought it would be the best way to truly understand how it worked. I've never built a project that required more problem solving, critical thinking, or persistance. Finishing the build gave me an intense sense of accomplishment. Then to use that 3D printer to bring a design to life brought a feeling that is almost indescribable. I want my students to have this same experience. For three years I've been teaching them about 3D design and 3D printing, but now it's time to take it to the next level. Help me bring this amazing experience and opportunity to my students.
