A Guardian Angel for My Dad

On April 13, 2014 my father had a massive stroke. Due to this heart breaking tragedy; my father is non responsive and incapacitated at this moment. We know it will be a long recovery for my father. 85% of the left side of his brain was damaged. My father’s brain ended up starting to swell in which he had to have an emergency surgery to remove a piece of his skull to allow his brain to swell. If this surgery had not gotten done, I would have lost my father. I realize how serious my father’s recovery and rehab will be and how long it can take for a recovery for my father to even become somewhat normal. I am the 2nd oldest out of 5 kids. This man has been the greatest father any child could ask for. I believe my father needs the best care in the world, the same way he cared for us. In order for me to take responsibility of making the right decisions for my dad and protecting his assets, medical decisions and making sure he is not put into a group home; or even used and abused by anyone, I have to get legal guardianship of my father. He has always asked me to step up and have his back if something would to ever happen to him. He told my family and friends that he knew I would be responsible and make the right decisions for him. I have to hire an Attorney to seek Legal Guardianship to do what’s best for my dad and carry on his wishes of me to make sure he is ok. The money I am trying to raise is to pay for the attorney’s fees and any other fees pertaining to the filing of Guardianship with the court in the state of Florida where my father is a resident. As I am a mother of 2 and a wife, my husband and I cannot afford to upfront the $6,000. that is required to obtain the attorney and other costs for the Legal representation of the “Ward” my father, (which is required). We are struggling ourselves and I am struggling with coming up with the money to get back and forth from Virginia and Florida, so it’s extremely hard to figure out where I would seek the money to file for Guardianship. Right now my father is currently seeking medical attention and rehab at Halifax hospital (Brooks Rehab center) in Daytona Beach, Florida which is located on the 8th floor of the hospital.
