Support the Family of BEN VELA

This "GoFundMe" fundraiser is in support of the family of one of Discovery Bay and Brentwood's young "Shooting Stars", "Big" Benjamin (Ben) Vela. While many of us will be enjoying New Year's festivities, enjoying being surrounded by their loved ones and families, contemplating how to make 2018 our best year ever, we can only imagine the Emptiness, Hopelessness and Devoid the Vela family must be feeling having lost their beloved Only Son.
Brenda and I have offered to Sylvia and Rosendo to start a "GoFundMe" account to help raise some funds for them for Ben's memorial services, cost of final resting place, food, and other family needs. In addition to losing Big Ben on Friday, Sylvia's Mom recently suffered a severe heart attack and was released from ICU that same dreaded day that Ben passed. Also, Sylvia's father is still in the hospital, is terribly ill and will require 24 Hour care upon his release -of which was to be on Wednesday. As of Saturday, he was still unaware of Ben's passing as Sylvia feared that his heart might not be able to take the loss of his Grandson and she might lose him, too.
As if our friends haven't suffered enough or otherwise don't have enough on their plate, they had been asked to vacate their rental in Brentwood in (4) weeks as the current owners are returning from a transfer to re-occupy their home. If anyone has or knows of a Rental that can accommodate their family and their Mother and Father, please let me know. A home that is Wheel chair accessible and/or has wide doorways would be highly preferred. I will let everyone know once the GoFundMe account is set up so those that desire and are able to help in some capacity will have the opportunity to do so.
Sylvia is expecting to have services at Immaculate Heart in Brentwood. A date has not been set for the service but I will update all on this once I know. If anyone would like to say something on Ben's behalf OR Sing a song or hymn OR otherwise reminisce about him on the baseball diamond or the basketball court or a heartfelt moment, please let me know and I will advise Sylvia and Rosendo.
Sendo is working on putting together Ben's favorite music for the service. Perhaps if we have a friend that is a DJ or is otherwise gifted at organizing a multimedia presentation with Music selections, I suspect this would be helpful to Sendo.
