A Family for Mia

Hi, I'm Kim and I live in Elgin, Illinois, a suburb outside of Chicago. I have 2 biological daughters (ages 17 & 15)and 2 adopted daughters (13 & 8) My 13-year-old daughter was adopted from China at 11 months old, and my 8-year-old daughter was adopted from Vietnam when she was 7 months old. My 4 girls are the greatest blessing in my life!

A few months ago I heard about an orphan hosting program sponsored by Great Wall China Adoptions/Children of the Nations. I loved looking at the pictures of the sweet kids who were waiting to be hosted. The hosting program brings children who haven't yet been placed in forever families from their orphanges in China to host families in the U.S. The children come as part of an "international camp" and stay with host families for 4 weeks. They see this trip as a once in a lifetime learning experience away from the confines of their orphanges; the host familes see this experience as an opportunity to tell these orphans stories. I saw Mia's picture on one of the Facebook posts and was able to get approved as her host family!

Mia is a sweet 12-year-old girl who has lived in an orphanage in China her entire life. Despite her hard first years, she is so sweet and kind and is the bravest, most loving little girl. She has a heart of gold, always sharing and thinking of others.

She doesn't speak any English but while she was here, she quickly picked up phrases and is a fast learner! She doesn't have the opportunity to attend school in China but it's obvious to everyone who meets her how smart she is! If Mia isn't adopted by the time she turns 14, she will "age out" of the system and her prospects for a future are bleak. Aging out means that she will no longer be eligible for adoption. It means she faces a life of little opportunity, especially wIithout an education. Domestic servitude, factory work or sex trafficking, among others.
Mia has captured our hearts - having her here has changed us and we know without a doubt she belongs with us! I have decided to begin the process of adoption to bring her back here for good. I have already been accepted to adopt her! The girls and I love her and can't wait until she's home for good.
When she is home, I will be able to provide everything she needs; however the costs to get her here are very expensive. That's why I've created this campaign. Anyone who feels a call on their heart to help bring Mia home, know that it will forever impact her life and the next generation!
Mia's adoption will be done through Great Wall China adoptions/Children of the Nations located in Austin, Texas. Thank you for your help! All money raised will go directly to her adoption expenses. Any money left over will go to Mia's education once she gets home.
