Lopez Andrade Family Fire Recovery

Donation protected
Early Saturday morning, June 24, at 3:00am, the Lopez Andrade family escaped their home by ladder as their entire apartment complex went up in flames in a 3-alarm fire.  Thankfully, the lives of mom, dad, and their 4 children were spared, but they lost everything.  They are temporarily living in a hotel, but that arrangement is only secure for the next few weeks.  All their belongings and savings went up in smoke with the fire.

Click here for the story from the Washington Post.

The four children are rising 7th grader (MacFarland MS), 1st grader (Marie Reed ES), and younger siblings ages 3 years, and 5 months old.

You can show support for this Marie Reed Elementary and MacFarland Middle School family by donating supplies, clothing, and canned goods to the Marie Reed summer office, located at Powell Elementary (1350 Upshur St NW), or by contributing to this Go Fund Me campaign.

Items that are particularly needed include:
- diapers, size 3
- baby wipes
- formula (Similac Advance)
- clothes (6-9 mos, 3T, children's size 7)
- shoes (children's size 2)
- backpacks
- school supplies
- underwear and socks

Thank you for your support during this difficult time!
