Family of 6, Dad injured

This picture is of my father, Brad VonAschen, my step-mother Jennifer, and their 4 young children, (ages 1 to 7). My dad is self-employeed with a small insulation, ventilation and handy-man business. Jennifer helps manage his business and home schools the kids.
On March 12, 2014 my dad fell off a ladder while doing some tree work at home and broke his back. He will be unable to work for several months and we are not sure if he will even be able to return to the same line of work when his back heals. With him unable to work, there is no income at all coming in right now. He also does not have any medical insurance.
My adult brothers and I are doing all we can to help. My brothers have already made plans to complete the insulation jobs my father already had scheduled. We are taking turns helping with the kids, while my step-mom spends time with my father at the hospital. We will do what we can financially to help as well, but none of us were prepared to support an additional family of 6 at this time.
We are looking to raise enough money to cover the regular monthly expenses while Dad cannot work, as well as to help with the medical bills that will be coming in soon.
Update: I should mention that my father is only 47. Even though he has adult children, he is not by any means an old man. He had no plans to retire or slow down any time soon.
