For The Love of Lisa Barr

This campaign is dedicated solely for the purpose of raising funds for Lisa Barr and her family. The net funds after campaign expenses (site and processing fees) will be donated to her family to be utilized for:

1) Medical and personal expenses in their time of need
2) Fulfillment of Lisa’s wishes and missions

Who, one may ask, is Lisa Barr? Simply put, she is one of those rare people who one is blessed in simply knowing. She is probably the most faith-driven, enthusiastic, kind and compassionate person many of us will ever meet, and oh…she is so much fun, too! Through countless trials, setbacks and tribulations with her illness, she remains steadfast and faithful and is driven to educate and teach in the prevention of what afflicted her 3 ½ years ago….Ovarian Cancer. Ovarian Cancer is the 5th leading cancer in women and is known as the “silent cancer” as often is diagnosed in advanced stages, and does not always leave a lot of indicators leading up to that stage.

For those of us who know and love Lisa (and there are so very many), words and descriptions are not necessary as you will have your own “story” with Lisa. Lisa's is a journey of faith and strength that to many of us is truly undefinable, except to maybe express in this way; from the day of diagnosis to this day, through the highs and lows, peaks and valleys, chemo, remission, and the cancer recurring again, not once has Lisa blamed nor asked “Why me?” It has been and continues to be, “okay, what do we do next; how do we educate about cancer, even if to save one life?”

One of the primary reasons for this effort is the cost of a nearly four year illness and the toll it has taken on Lisa and her husband. The cost of not being able to continue to work (Lisa had been a business owner for several years, but simply could not continue) to medical bills not covered by insurance, and other daily struggles and life events that just happen. Their battle has become extremely draining and worrisome and that is taking more of a toll on Lisa’s health. You can imagine fighting for your life, trying to remain positive while going further into what seems insurmountable debt. We are trying to eliminate some of that stress and by making it a “community” effort, afford others a chance to know they have a way to help, rather than feeling helpless.

For those who know and love Lisa but live farther away, this online campaign seemed to be a good vehicle to do just that…and by leaving personal messages we all have another way to connect to a girl we all love so very much, and again, if you are new to knowing Lisa…your life has just become even more blessed. Although our goal stated here is just a “drop in the bucket”, it is a start. In closing, thank you so very much for taking the time to read this and know you have the opportunity to be part of something so big and so “good and to all family, friends, and new friends; this is ….for the love of Lisa!
