Help A Hero's Family

I had the pleasure of meeting Samantha Martinez while helping her & her husband, Michael Martinez, buy their first home in Colorado. Michael was deployed at the time but that didn't stop this strong, independent military spouse! She was on her own mission: to find a home for her husband's soon return, and to have a safe place to raise her 2 boys. I can honestly say I have never met someone like Samantha. Most women in their early 20's wouldn't fathom buying a home, uprooting her entire family to a new state, while being in school full-time. Let alone doing it all by herself.  Yet every time I saw or spoke to Samantha, she had this contagious happiness that would overtake me, and anyone who came in contact with her. She closed on her home July 3, started decorating it, making friends with her new neighbors, and truly enjoying her new life that she built in CO. Of course, I'd get a call from her every so often with funny stories of her recent "new homeowner" triumphs & fails, but she was loving every minute of it. She was so excited for Michael to get home. On August 22 her picturesque life vanished. Samantha's husband, Sgt. Michael J. Martinez, age 22, was pronounced dead at a local German medical facility. He was found unresponsive at the Grafenwoehr Training area in Germany. With him being the sole provider of the family, Samantha now has a lot more responsibility to take on. Her first mortgage payment is due next week. I'm sure she will receive benefits from the Army but I am hoping this eases her stress, and shows the community's support,  so she can focus on what matters most. There is no donation too small or too large. The Martinez family is paying the ultimate sacrifice, the least we can do is be her champion in his absence.
